English: View inside the Shed, with Rebuilt 'Royal Scot' 7P 4-6-0 No. 46153 'The Royal Dragoon' waiting outside to go to Manchester Central to work an express to London St Pancras. It was the principal Manchester Depot of the Cheshire Lines (CLC)- with mainly LNER locomotives, and for the ex-Midland passenger trains from Central. It was coded 9E (Manchester Longsight District) by BR and had a large and mixed allocation of 72 in 1954, comprising:- 10 4-6-0s (LMS), 14 (8 LMS, 6 LNE) 4-4-0s, 4 2-8-0s (LMS), 22 0-6-0s (4 LMS, 18 LNE), 6 2-6-4Ts (LMS), 2 2-6-2Ts (LMS), 11 0-6-2TS (LNE) and 3 0-6-0Ts (LNE). The Depot closed on 4/3/68 and became a Freightliner Depot.
