| Description |
English: A total solar eclipse viewed from Orin Junction, Wyoming in 2017. The sun's plasma atmosphere, or corona, surrounds the moon's silhouette, with magnetic field lines visible emanating from the north and south poles of the sun (10 o'clock and 4 o'clock positions). Orin Junction is at Exit 126 on Interstate 25, south of Douglas.
The picture was taken directly with a pocket digital camera, the Canon SX720 HS, without any filter. The camera was held on a car roof to stabilise the zoomed telephoto image. |
