English: Torpantau Station: meeting a Brecon - Newport train.
View northward, towards Torpantau Tunnel, Talybont and Brecon: ex-Brecon & Merthyr (Brecon - Dowlais section), later GWR. The down train, headed by standard '8750' class 0-6-0PT No. 3712 (built 11/36) has just surmounted the fearsome climb of seven miles (the "Seven-Mile Bank") at about 1-in-40 from Talybont-on-Usk, while my train headed for Brecon has come up a similar climb from Pontsticill Junction. The narrow-gauge Brecon Mountain Railway from Pant terminates just short of here but aims to reach this point. On the left is the outline of the Brecon Beacons.
