Description
English: The image shows the berm of the former Toronto Eastern Railway in Courtice, Ontario as it passes between Trulls Road and Courtice Road, just south of Nash Road. The picture is taken looking east-south-east, towards Bowmanville.

The berm is about 2 feet high in this section, which is now in a forested park. The berm appears to end abruptly, but this is due to the walking path moving off the berm to the left - brush growth obscures the berm beyond that point. The tan-colored Courtice Community Center can just be made out through the trees on the right of the berm. The line passed along what is now its driveway.

The Toronto Eastern was one of many high-speed "interurban" railways in the Toronto area being planned in the early part of the 20th Century. Construction on the Toronto Eastern started and stopped several times, before the line was eventually pulled up in 1927, shortly after completion. It never went into paid operation.
