English: Document with attached seal in the Kruisherenarchief, the archives of the former Monastery of the Croziers or Crutched Friars (1438-1796) in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The Kruisherenarchief has been part of the National Archives in Limburg (now: RHCL) in Maastricht since 1882. Although not the most important, it is considered the most complete monastery archives in the Netherlands, Belgium and the German Rhineland. Here: one of the oldest documents relating to the monastery, packed acid-free in Melinex (archival polyester sheets). The document of 4 January 1438 concerns the permission given by the bishop of Liège, Jan van Heinsberg, to the Order of the Holy Cross to establish their Maastricht monastery. The attached seal is of Jan van Heinsberg.
