Description
English: Mary Scott published The Female Advocate; a poem. Occasioned upon reading Mr. Duncombe's Feminead in 1774 in response to John Duncombe's The Feminead; or, female genius (1754). Duncombe's poem praised British women writers and defended women's right to pursue art and education, and Scott's poem featured writers Duncombe missed, many of them her contempories.
