English: Timothy Haʻalilio (1808–1844) (left) and William Richards (1793–1847) on the first diplomatic mission from the Kingdom of Hawaii to the USA and Europe to negotiate a treaty guaranteeing independence. Haʻalilio died on the return voyage.
