Summary

Description
English: This giant concrete behemoth is the structure holding back the 1.7 million gallons of Thruscross Reservoir and ensuring that the abandoned Yorkshire village of West End village firmly submerged in its watery tomb. It is, of course, a highly necessary piece of infrastructure and is responsible for keeping the tapwater flowing across the Leeds area but its stark concrete walls are a harsh contrast to the supplanted village's beautiful old stone masonry which now lays buried or strewn along the artificial shores of Thruscross. The photograph can be found in its original resolution in this set of images.
