DescriptionThree Gems, James Turrell Skyspace, interior.jpg
English: This is a photograph from the inside of Three Gems, the James Turrell Skyspace in the sculpture garden outside of the de Young Museum in San Francisco, CA, US, taken May 23, 2024. The photo is taken at a wide angle, positioned nearly 180 degrees from the entryway, and shows 1) the entry into the space, with the terracotta-colored wall of the circular walkway around the space visible through it, 2) much of the interior of the space, 3) the aperture revealing a clear blue sky, 4) a ring of sunlight cast through the aperture onto the floor and part of the bench
The circular walls and benches of the space appear gray, with the exception of the portion of the bench illuminated by the sunlight which appears white. The domed ceiling appears white, with a shadow around the aperture. The floor has radial tiles in a brick-like pattern, and there is a flat stone circle inlaid at the center of the floor directly below the aperture. The stone has a marble-like pattern, with several hues of blue, gray, and white visible.
