Summary

Description
English: A set of ormolu clock with a figure of Minerva and candlesticks in the Empire-style purchased in Paris in 1817 by the U.S. president James Monroe in order to adorn the White House that had been burned down by the English in 1814. Bronzier Pierre-Philippe Thomire, clock movement by Louis Moinet. When this photo was taken in the early 1960s it was located in the Blue Room of the White House, now it is the Entrance Hall of the presidential residence
