Summary

Description
English: Caption for an engraving (shown below) showing a bucolic scene with two shepherds, Thyrsis and Aipolos (= Goatherd) illustrating Theocritus Idyll 1 Θύρσις ἢ ᾠδή, lines 12-14. Greek caption with the text spoken by Thyrsis in the dialogue:

The text differs slightly from Perseus.tufts.edu: Theocritus Theoc.
Translation from Theoi.com Theocritus Idylls1:

'Fore the Nymphs I pray you, master Goatherd, come now and sit ye down here by this shelving bank and these brush tamarisks and play me a tune. I’ll keep your goats the while.
Idyll 1 Θύρσις ἢ ᾠδή, regel 12-14.

Vertaling op Theoi.com Theocritus Idylls1:
'Fore the Nymphs I pray you, master Goatherd, come now and sit ye down here by this shelving bank and these brush tamarisks and play me a tune. I’ll keep your goats the while.
