One of the color slides is shown on the car atthe left of the picture. This car is coupled to one of the regularcars and taken down the line where an exhibition lasting probablyluilf an hour is given at the Whirlpool Rapids every evening. Theeffect of the searchlight on the seething waters is indescribable.

The shadows are greatly heightened, thereby making the alreadyturbulent waters seem even more turbulent, and the coloring pro-cured by the use of gelatine slides calls forth many expressions ofadmiration and awe. which with the gratifying receipts, arc most en-couraging returns for the outlay and experimenting which thewriter made to make possible the illumination of the WhirlpoolRapids. In addition to the above, forty 2,000 candle power lamps 830 STREET RAILWAY REVIEW. (Vol. XI, No. ii. with silvered reflectors are used to effect the general lighting ofthe Rapids. Since we have secured such ticket representation as enables us toticket the passscnger from Niagara Falls through the ThousandIslands to Montreal and points beyond, and also via Lake Georgeand the Hudson River to New York, we have found that the touristbusiness has increased to such an extent that a baggage car becamea necessity.
