For let it be supposed that in Sphceroplea (§ 198) a con-jugation of two adjacent cells were to take place, at that stage in their develop-ment in which the endochi-ome is uniformly arranged in rings, no differentiationof sexes yet showmg itself,—the process would in all respects correspondwith that of the ordinary Conjugatese.
