We fought our way through one barbed-wire entanglement after the other and intohis trenches, which certainly were wonder-ful. The trenches all had wooden walksin them; many of the dugouts were ofconcrete, well furnished and heated. Allof them had electric fights. They had finevegetable-gardens, and we got a fine bunchof sausages, wines, and jams.
