Description
English: The barque Camphill

A portrait of the three-masted barque ‘Camphill’ shown broadside view in full sail in a calm sea. She flies the red ensign and is shown off the Channel with white cliffs in the distance on the right. The barque is shown in fair weather surrounded by other shipping.

The ‘Camphill’ was built in 1889 and she sailed between Liverpool and Valpariaso.

The painting is one of a pair with BHC3679 and is signed and dated ‘J. Fannen 1897’.
