DescriptionThe Rock and Spindle - geograph.org.uk - 7348.jpg
English: The Rock and Spindle. This oddly shaped 'stack' stands on the shore at the foot of Kinkell Braes south of St Andrews. It is made of basalt which is a volcanic rock. The central spindle appears to have radiating spokes. These are formed in columnar-jointed basalt.
