Summary

Description
English: The River Lagan, Belfast (1982). This view (from the Queen Elizabeth Bridge) is now blocked by the Lagan Weir at Donegall Quay 347520 and the road and railway bridges 4750. To the left are P&O ferries for Ardrossan and Liverpool (now the seasonal IoM service and winter lay-ups 576424). The West Twin silo (left of middle survives, in use). Next right (now the Stena berths 104118) is a Fisher coaster (probably loading aggregates). The West Twin power station (now closed and being demolished) had only two chimneys. Coal-fired the black smoke was a feature. There is another coaster (at the Ballast Quay - also part of the Stena terminal) probably loading scrap and, in the distance, the old 200 ton crane at the Stormont Wharf. On the eastern side of the Lagan, a Kelly's boat 565882 is discharging coal at Queen's Quay 383804 with its swan-necked cranes and coal yards 520292. Oh and the water is cleaner now. See also 771105.
