DescriptionThe Queens Arms, Cowden Pound, Kent - geograph.org.uk - 193441.jpg
English: The Queens Arms, Cowden Pound, Kent. This pub is only open between 5 and 10.30, so your photographer was unable to get a lunchtime pint, but several reasons suggest that an evening visit would be in order: (1) It is in Kent, (2) the beer on offer is Adnam's of Suffolk, (3) notices outside state NO LAGER IS SOLD HERE, and NO CHILDREN'S ROOM.
I understand that this pub was on an old drovers route when Welsh cattle were driven into Kent for fattening before going to market in London. The drovers probably planted the fir tree as a signpost. I am indebted to John Trimmer for this information.
