Summary

Description
English: Photograph of a watercolor painting depicting the Plaza of Sonoma, ca.1874. The painting shows two men in top hats and fine dress at the outskirts of the plaza. One is situated on horseback to the right, while the other -- short and squat -- stands at left. Farther back to the right, the American flag can be seen flying from a tall pole. Long, one- to two-story buildings demarcate the rectangular outline of the plaza, facing inward. The painting, which depicts the town during the year 1850, was in the possession of Otto von Geldern. Picture file card reads"The conspicuous house was the home of General Valejo, where he was seized by the Bear Flag party".
