Description
English: The painting titled "The Guard of the Palace," painted in 1887 by Edwin Longsden Long, with contrasting and harmonizing colors and architecture. The artist has visited Algerian[1]. The central figures are a man and a woman in traditional Algerian dress. Djellaba with a black burnus, while the woman wears an embroidered caftan with a matching scarf and carries a copper tray with the eight-pointed star, a symbol of Algerian craftsmanship.
