English: In 1892 the Idaho Statesman said of Boise's new city hall, "It will cover a space 50x70 feet and will be five stories in height, the distance from the ground to the apex of the roof being sixty-two feet. At the most prominent corner of the building an ornamental tower will rise from the sidewalk to an altitude of seventy-five feet. "...Upon the first or main floor, in the most prominent corner, will be a large office for the mayor of the city. A stone balcony juts from the ornamental tower window of the mayor's office, enabling the city's chief executive to address 'concourses of enthusiastic citizens' without leaving the precincts of his own stronghold..."
