The newly installed statue on the High Street in Smethwick close to Tollhouse Way is called The Lions of the Great War. The design of a Sikh Solider during the First World War.
Unveiled early November 2018.
During its first week, the walls behind it were vandalised, but the graffiti has been cleaned up in time for the Armistice 100 weekend commemorations.
Poppy wreaths were at the base of the plinth.
The sculptor was Luke Perry.
It is quite close to the Guru Nanak Gurdwara.
There is a large Indian Sikh population in the Smethwick area of Sandwell.
