DescriptionThe Lewis College of Business, Detroit, Michigan.jpg
English: This building of the Lewis College of Business was used as its campus from 1941-1976. The original Lewis College of Business was started in 1928 in Detroit, Michigan during the Great Depression. It was begun as the only black business college in Michigan by Dr. Violet T. Lewis. The focus was to train black women for secretarial jobs. After the Civil Rights era, the college enhanced and added to its program offerings. Needing more space, the college relocated to a larger location within the city. After 70 years of successful operation and the graduation of over 27,000 students, Lewis College closed its doors in 2013.
