Summary
[edit]Screenshot from the music video "It's Grim Up North" by The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu.
Fair use in It's Grim Up North
[edit]Although the picture is subject to copyright I (Kingboyk) feel and assert that it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- it is a low resolution screenshot from a music video;
- it does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the video in any way;
- no free alternative is available;
- it is being used to illustrate an article on the recording in question with commentary on the music video
The image is used to illustrate the commentary in the article about the video, and to illustrate the message of the prose that the video is in black and white and shows the JAMs performing in the rain, in the dark, grey and "grim" North.
Licensing
[edit]This image is a screenshot from a copyrighted music video or promotional video for a music artist, and the copyright for it is most likely held by the producers of the video and possibly also by the music artist. It is believed that the use of a limited number of low-resolution screenshots
qualifies as fair use under the copyright law of the United States. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. | |
