DescriptionThe Hotel Europa in Maracaibo, c. 1897.jpg
English: A photograph taken of Maracaibo's first "gran" - great - hotel, Hotel Europa, in about 1897, the year a film featuring it was made. It is included in several film histories, with some saying it is a still from the film, or taken during the filming. A video showing the restoration and history of the film Un célebre especialista sacando muelas en el gran Hotel Europa, created by the Venezuelan Association of Film Exhibitors, shows the image. The image has been held in the Zulia Photographic Archive and was a "frame" from 1897. Also in this video, it is stated that the creator of the 1897 film was Manuel Trujillo Durán, who died in 1933. Other suggestions for the director include Gabriel Veyre, who died in 1936.
The image was also published in El Cojo Ilustrado in 1901, as reported by documents on early hotels in Maracaibo, including Milano and Lopez 2017.
