English: Ad for the American film The Eternal Magdalene (1919), on the cover of the May 10, 1919 Exhibitors Herald. The film, which had a controversial subject and was based upon a play, was produced in 1918 but not released until the next year and only after a private screening before the National Review Board. The role of the Eternal Magdalene, who only appears in a dream sequence in the film, was portrayed by Maxine Elliott.
