An 18th century painting (usually dated to 1760s) by the Italian artist Andrea Casali depicting an event from the chronicles of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines and William of Malmesbury showing Gunhilda of Denmark (c. 1020–1038) Queen consort of Germany, receives from her page the severed head of the man who had accused her of adultery, after he had been defeated by the page in combat, but Gunhilda renounces her victory.
