Summary

Description
English: The Bears Head, Brereton Green http://www.bedandbreakfastdirect.co.uk/show_cotdetails.asp?cid=935 says "The Bear's Head was built in 1615 according to the date carved into the old timbered porch and has been described as being "as noble as many an old manor house" by one commentator. In the days of coach travel nearby Brereton was a thriving village of 700 inhabitants and this inn was a popular posting house on the London-Liverpool route. As coaching declined the Bear's Head entered a quieter period and by the 1891 survey of Cheshire public houses it was recorded as a freehouse. It then had 4 bedrooms and "drinking accommodation for 12 persons", with 2 stables and 6 stalls. However, trade must have recovered by the turn of the century since in 1903 facilities were extended to accommodate 6 bedrooms, 4 stables and 13 stalls."
