Teruto“Terry” Tsubota, center, wearing MP armband, registers Okinawa refugees during the Battle of Okinawa, which started 60 years ago. A native of Hawaii, Tsubota served as an interpreter for the American troops and is credited with saving hundreds of Okinawans.
