Description
English: Generic template for coat of arms of a Patriarch (Latin rite), Interwoven with gold (disused).
Español: Plantilla genérica para escudo de armas de un Patriarca (Rito latino), con entretejido de oro (en desuso).

Las cuerdas y las borlas verdes del escudo del patriarca (Rito latino) pueden tener bordado de oro, pero actualmente esta en desuso, pues solo existen cuatro patriarcas de rito latino (Lisboa, Venecia, Jerusalén, y el patriarca de las Indias Orientales) y no hay forma de confundirlos con los primados por las siguientes razones:

  • El patriarca de Lisboa también es el primado de Portugal, además por privilegio adquirido puede ostentar en su escudo la tiara papal pero sin las llaves.[1]
  • El primado de Italia es el Papa, ademas el patriarca de Venecia ostenta en el jefe de su escudo el león de San Marcos, símbolo de Venecia.
  • El patriarca de Jerusalén ostenta la cruz de Jerusalén.
  • Patriarca de las Indias Orientales es un titulo ad honorem asociado al arzobispo de Goa y Damão (India), quien también ostenta el titulo de Primado del Oriente.[2], [3]

Según el libro "Heraldry in the Catholic Church: Its Origins, Customs, and Laws" de monseñor Bruno Bernhard Heim, dice que las borlas bordadas de oro no tienen ningún fundamento, no es un derecho o una obligación, sino sólo un estilo. El rango de un patriarca o primado debe traduce por los ornamentos mismos. Porque originalmente el primado existe en el país donde no había ningún patriarca. Así que no hay razón para imponer el bordado en oro de las borlas.
