English: Teapot (USA), 1882
Description
English: Paneled octagonal body with short curved spout and circular lid with flattened knob finial. Attached to posts on shoulder is bronze bail-like handle in form of two dolphins rising upward. Low-relief underglaze decoration on front and back of prunus sprigs in white, blue-gray and brown slips on the ginger ground. Shoulder and top painted burnt-siena. Gilt accents on the top, spout and two of the sides. Bottom and interior glazed.
