English: The biosynthesis of tautomycetin occurs in two modules, TtnA and TtnB. The dialkylmaleic anhydride moeity is synthesized separately and incorporated at the end of TtnA with an enzyme called TtnK. Several post-synthase modifications are required to form the final structure of tautomycetin, including an oxidation at C6 and a decarboxylation-dehydration.
