PROSPECT DER S. JOHANNIS KIRCHE ZU DORPAT 1794.

Diese Kirche gehörte zu katholischen Zeiten den Domonkanern, nachdem aber die Reformation auch nach Dorpat gedrungen war, und die Dominikaner abgezogen waren, wurde, obgleich noch Bischöfe regierten, der unteutsche od. ehstnische Gottesdienst darinn von 3 Predigern gehalten worden. Als die Polen den Lutheranern die teutsche S. Marienkirche weggenomen hatten, ist in dieser Kirche sowohl teutsch als unteutsch gepredigt worden. In der Belagerung 17044 und während der darauf erfolgten Wegführung der Einwohner litte sie sehr, und es mußte nach erfolgtem Frieden u. der Wiederkehr der noch übrigen Einwohner der Gottesdienst eine Zeit lang in einem Hause gehalten werden, bis sie wieder hergestellt werden konnte.
