Description First there was "Galloping Gertie," the Tacoma Narrows bridge that famously collapsed in a high wind in the 40's. They rebuilt it in the 50's to better withstand the wind, but it's still too narrow for today's needs. So they're building a new toll bridge to carry heavier traffic loads.
