Summary

Description
English: Sydney Ferry BARAGOOLA CIrcular Quay 26 July 1937

Baragoola as a steamer, taken from the new jetty No 3 under construction at Circular Quay whilst the Manly ferries temporarily used jetty No 2. One of a series of pictures dated 28/7/37 and taken by the company that constructed the Circular Quay jetties. Another picture taken the same day and facing the opposite direction shows No 3 jetty concrete deck completed only. That deck remains today.

It is before WWII, one year before the SS South Steyne arrived, and five years after the Sydney Harbour Bridge opened. Manly ferry patronage was not greatly affected by the opening of the Bridge. Post-War private car ownership and the introduction of Manly Warringah district bus services were a different matter, decimating Manly ferry patronage after the War.
