The previous Sussex Pad Inn on the Lancing Road (now A27), Sussex. which burned down 26 October 1905. While living at Charmandean, Broadwater, Sussex, philanthropist Ann Thwaytes used to follow a ritual at full moon of dressing in white and driving past this inn.
