The details recorded by Maude Bishop read;- ‘Luke the physician is the principal figure and there are children of various nations gathering for healing. The floral garland, based on Avens or Herb Benedicta which, according to ancient folk lore, is supposed to heal all ills. The panels on either side of Luke represent 1) the passage from Revelation 22: 1-2, showing the river of water of life; also the tree bearing twelve manner of fruits. 2) Luke’s evangelistic symbol, the winged ox, together with parchment and quill for writing the gospel’
