English: Sultan Moulay Youssef arrival Fes Mosque. The sultan is returning from prayers in the Great Mosque of Fes el-Jdid, which is connected directly to the Dar al-Makhzen via a passage in its qibla wall. The courtyard seen here is the "inner mechouar" which, according to Henri Bresollette ("Fès-Jdid de sa fondation en 1276 au milieu du XXe siècle", Hespéris-Tamuda 1983), dates from Moulay Hassan's reign in the late 19th century. |
