English: Members of the LDL receptor gene family contain five distinct modules present in characteristic numbers: LDL receptor type A (LA) repeats, necessary for ligand binding; EGF precursor homology domains, built up from EGF repeats and YWTD beta propellers; O-linked sugar domain; transmembrane domain; and a cytoplasmic tail harboring one or more NPxY motifs essential for binding of intracellular adapter proteins. Differentially spliced domains are depicted hatched. |
