DescriptionStratford with Stanier 3-cylinder 2-6-4T geograph-2813264-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg
English: Stanier 3-cylinder 2-6-4T at Stratford.
View NW from the London end of the main station: ex-GE main line junction. Liverpool Street (also Fenchurch Street) and the North London Line etc. via Channelsea Junction are to the left, all country and suburban lines to the right. At this point the Low Level line from North London and Temple Mills Yard etc. to the Royal Docks and North Woolwich pass underneath; the signals on the right are beside Fork Junction Box. The 37 Stanier 3-cylinder 2-6-4Ts were designed and built in 1934 specifically for the Tilbury Line: all worked the line until it was electrified in 1962, No. 42504 being withdrawn in 7/62. They were not often seen at Stratford, probably only for attention at the Works.
