| Description |
English: The "Red Button" Stereo Realist viewer is a handheld device used for viewing a stereoscopic image pair. The left and right images are photographic 35mm transparency film. They are held in careful alignment in a stereoscopic slide mount called a Realist slide. This format for stereo slide viewing was developed in the late 1940s by the David White Company as part of their Stereo Realist 3D photographic system which also included stereoscopic cameras and projectors. The slide mounts were typically made of cardboard, but aluminum and glass mounts were also common. Shown here is a modern plastic mount made by a German company "RBT". |
