Summary

Description
English: This model of the steamboat Commonwealth is made of gold and silver and is also a music box, playing ten popular tunes from the period it was created (ca 1864). It is currently in the collection at The Mariners' Museum. As the music plays, the paddlewheels and walking beam are set in motion. This model was exhibited in Paris in 1878 and also at the World's Fair in New York City in 1940. I took a picture of this model at the museum for the express purpose of uploading it on Wikipedia to share it with others.
