Description |
English: This rather rare statuette represents the goddess Lama, a mediating goddess who precedes the orants and presents them to the gods. His coat is decorated at the bottom with two selvedges of scales ending in fringes. Its necklace is extended by a long chain to which is suspended a cylinder seal or a cylindrical amulet. A counterweight resembling the Egyptian menat is on his back. The ornaments, clothing and rich hairstyle, similar to the sculptures of the city of Mari, suggest that this statuette could have been made in a workshop on the outskirts of Mesopotamia. |
