Summary

Description
English: Statue of Virgin Mary in the transept of the cathedral of Strasbourg, France. Created 1858/9, restored 1899, 1934, 1954 and 1998.

Translation from French

In the first years after its foundation [1717], the congregation acquired a statue of the Virgin Mary. According to the writings, she had to be very beautiful, an object of art of some kind, and of some value. Unfortunately, it did not survive the ravages of the Revolution. First stolen, it was then melted. It was only after a little more than half a century, in the year 1857, that the Committee decided to offer itself a new statue. The realization was then entrusted to a man named Küschner. The work of gilding to a certain Ott. It was completed and delivered in March (probably the following year). It is here that the Congregation still honors today. She was then repaired and restored, especially at the gilding level, four times. A first time in 1899, a second time in 1934, a third time in 1954 and then more recently, in 1998, by the Meyer workshop in Koenigshoffen in order to adorn it for the Great Jubilee of the year 2000.
