English: Statue of Edward Jenner. This is the statue of Edward Jenner in Kensington Gardens. A county doctor who's blatant disregard for medical ethics (he deliberately tried to infect a boy with smallpox definitely against the Hippocratic oath!) it enabled him to prove the protective effect of cowpox against smallpox. Jenner's discovery has saved countless lives and eventually rid the world of smallpox see 1452454 for a fuller story.
