English: Statue San Giacomo Confessore (St James the Confessor) near Duomo Catania, Italy. Little is known about him: He is believed to have been bishop of Catania and was martyred in Constantinople for his opposition to the veneration of icons during the reign of the iconoclast Emperor Constantine Copronimus (741-775 AD).[1] He is not listed in the Catholic list of Saints, but the Orthodox Church commemorate him on 21st March.
