Summary
| Description |
English: Alderman P. J. Allen was the Mayor of Charters Towers. Mr. Allen, who was a Londoner arrived on the field some eighteen years ago to join staff of his, Mr Thos. Buckland. When the latter, who had large interests in property, mines and cattle, retired from active business some ten years ago. Mr. Allen assumed the management, and had retained the position since. He also acted as mining secretary. Mr Allen who had already been in Council for five years, was again returned in 1902. He was active, energetic and capable, and should have been an excellent Mayor.
