English: Dungarees marching along Queen Street, Brisbane, 1915

The Dungarees marched from Warwick to Brisbane. (Description supplied with photograph.).

The March of the Dungarees was one of the recruiting marches organised during 1915 and 1916. The march began in Warwick, with 30 men who marched to Brisbane via Toowoomba, Laidley and Ipswich, picking up volunteers as they went through each town. They covered a distance of 160 miles and finished in Brisbane with 125 recruits. Some members of the crowd can be seen watching from trams.
