Star_of_the_Order_of_St._Catherine.jpg (592 × 600 pixels, file size: 89 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Description
Русский: Звезда к женскому ордену Св. Екатерины.
English: First class breast star, ca. 1860/70. Silver, the reverse center gold-plated, set with rock crystals, the crown and motto in the center with diamond roses. Hinged rays. No hallmarks. 94 mm, 88 g. Very fine jewellers' quality. The original diamonds have been changed for rock crystals, very probably by the recipient. Decorations with diamonds were manufactured by the most prominent jewellers of St. Petersburg (e.g. Bolin, Faberg‚, Hahn, W.Keibel, Säfftigen). Since they were delivered directly to the Cabinet of the Tsar and not to the chancellery of the Order they didn't have to be hallmarked.
