Description
English: The photo shows the leadership of USSR Apr 1925. On the photo taken in Kremlin: Joseph Stalin, General Secretary of the Communist Party. Alexei Rykov, Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars (Prime Minister). Lev Kamenev, Deputy Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars (Deputy Prime Minister). Grigory Zinoviev, Chairman of the Comintern's Executive Committee. Context: following Lenin’s death in Jan 1924, the Soviet leaders started the factional war within the one party state headed by the Communist (Bolsheviks) party. The period ended by 1929 when Joseph Stalin became de-facto dictator of the Soviet Union and established one of the most brutal regime in history. Lev Kamenev and Grigory Zinoviev were executed in 1936 following the court case known as Trial of Sixteen . Alexei Rykov was executed in 1938 following the show court case known as Trial of Twenty One.
